This week we have two and a half days off from school in honor of Thanksgiving. This national holiday honors the history of our country and all that we have to appreciate. We have read books about children whose lives are very different from yours. Think of things that you have to be thankful for: family, a home, friends, an education, and so on. Post as a discussion to this page a complete paragraph or two describing all that you have to be thankful for. You may include an additional paragraph that tells your class how you will celebrate this holiday.
We have recently reviewed what a complete paragraph includes. A complete paragraph begins with a topic sentence to tell the reader what the paragraph is about. Next detail sentences give more information about the topic. Finally a closing sentence brings the paragraph to a close and remind the reader what the paragraph was about. Remember a paragraph starts with an indent to let the reader know where it begins.
Remember, you have learned about the revision strategies of using temporal words and strong verbs to make your writing more interesting to the reader. Every good writer revises before calling a piece finished. Capital letters and punctuation will help your readers understand what you are seeing. Be a kind writer!
This assignment is due Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
